One of the maxims of our industry is, “Insurance is a must.” In spite of the excellent packing and safe transportation that we provide, there are ever so many factors that are beyond our control – acts of God, like rains, storms and floods; acts of man, like accidents, sabotage, riots and fire. That is why our clients are urged to take suitable insurance and are offered support in completing paperwork and other formalities.

Here we give a brief description of the different types of insurance available. There are several insurance companies in India with which one can take a policy. Because of our experience in this line, we assist our clients in completing the formalities.

The commonest type is “Transit Insurance”, where compensation is paid towards losses / damages only if the vehicle meets with an accident. No accident, no compensation. The premium is 1.2% of the declared value of the goods.

Another popular type of insurance is called "comprehensive Insurance". Here the premium is around 3% of the declared value. Under this policy, compensation is paid for any damages except scratches. In case cover is required for glassware and crockery items, this has to be specified and a small additional premium paid. This is the best risk cover. However, it is for the customer to decide; we can only suggest, guide and help.

After taking out an insurance policy, customers are advised to carry with them the insurance policy bond, lorry receipt with vehicle number, list of goods/items packed and sent, insurance premium receipt and money receipt for the payments made.
