the capital city of Orissa, also known as the "Temple Metropolis of
India", is a beautiful city in the Eastern part of India.

According to 2001 census, the population of this state was 6,57,477.
Supposed to be a well planned city, Modern Bhubeneswar is a part of the
greater urban conglomoration that includes Cuttack, Khurda, Choudwar and
Jagatpur and the population of this urban conglomoration is more than 2½
million. The literacy rate in 1991 was 67% with 58% male literacy rate
and 42% female literacy rate. The city has a sex ratio of 755 males for
every 1000 males.

April. The summers are quite warm with average temeperature around 40°C.

- Air : Biju Patnaik Airport in Bhubaneswar, the
only major airport in the state, is 3 km from the city centre and

flights.
- Rail : The Railway station is in the heart of
the city. Bhubaneswar is directly connected by rail with Kolkata,
Puri, Chennai, Delhi, Mumbai, Bangalore, Guwahati, Hyderabad,
Tirupati, Ahmedabad, Jaipur and Trivandrum.
- Road : Bhubaneswar is well connected to
Berhampur, Chilka, Cuttack, Konark, Paradip, Puri, Rourkela,
Sambalpur and other places by motorable roads through out the year.
The National Highway No.5 touches this capital city. Interstate bus
services operate daily between Kolkata and Puri via Bhubaneswar and
Tatanagar (Jamshedpur).
