 The
capital of the Indian state of Andhra Pradesh, Hyderabad, is India's 5th
largest metropolis and the 40th largest metropolitan city in the world.
It is known for its rich history, culture and architecture and emerging
IT and biotech hub of the country.
Demographics
As per 2001 census, the city population is estimated at over 3.69
million. Religiously and culturally, the city is evenly divided between
Muslims and Hindus which includes a visible population of Christians.
Climate in Hyderabad
Hyderabad remains warm throughout the year and does not receive much
rainfall in the monsoon. Temperatures marginally come down in winter and
December nights are quite cool over here. Though the climate is suitable
for visit anytime of the year, the best season is between
October-February. The temperature is 42 degrees during summers and in
winters it may fall to a minimum of 12 degrees.
How to visit Hyderabad?
- Air : The Begumpet Airport in Hyderabad is well
connected to all parts of the country and world. The airport
provides flights to all major destinations in India, as well as
connections to locations in Middle East, Southeast Asia, Europe, the
Americas and Sri Lanka with non stop flights to and from many cities
in these areas. Another airport is underconstruction at Shamshabad,
which lies on the outskirts of the city. The new airport, once
completed, will be able to provide much needed infrastructure to
handle large aircraft, and international traffic.
- Rail : Hyderabad has a light rail
transportation system known as the MultiModal Transport System
(MMTS). The MMTS connects various parts of the city with Hyderabad,
Secunderabad, Lingampally and Faluknama. Hyderabad and especially
Secunderabad is considered as one of the important railway cities.
The South Central Railway headquarters is located at Secunderabad.
- Road : Suppose to be the Necklace Road,
Hyderabad is well connected to many other locations in India, such
as Bangalore, Mumbai, Guntur, Nagpur, Warangal, Pune, and Vijaywada,
either through directly or through intermediary locations. Indian
National Highways, NH-7, NH-9 and NH-202 pass through the city.

Major Industries in Hyderabad
- IT and IT Enabled Services: Hyderabad has also
been referred to as the second Silicon Valley of India. The
development of a township with state-of-the-art facilities called
Hi-Tech city, prompted several IT and ITES companies to setup
operations in the city.
