
Situated
on the banks of the rivers Saraswati and Khan, Indore lies to the
extreme west of Madhya Pradesh. The two rivers unite at the centre of
the city where a small 18th century temple of Sangamnath or Indreshwar
exists and hencr the name Indore. It is the largest city and the
commercial capital of the state of Madhya Pradesh in central India.
Demographics
Indore is among the million plus population cities of India. As per
1991 census, the population was 1,086,673.
Climate in Indore
Indore has a moderately extreme climate. In winter from November to
February, the temperature is around 10 degree celcius. At the peak of
winter, it can be as low as low as 2 to 3 degreee celcius. During summer
from April to June, the days are hot with the temperature ranging
between 35 and 40 degree celcius. Indore gets moderate rainfall during
July-September.
How to reach Indore?
- Rail : Indore is an important junction for
meter guage trains. There is also a terminus for broad guage. Indore
is one of the few places in India, where a diamond junction is also
available. It is well connected via rail to all parts of the
country; daily trains run to Jammu, Mumbai, Delhi etc.
- Roads : Indore, is fairly well connected to
other parts of Madhya Pradesh, and India with national and state
highways.

Education in Indore
Indore has been the education center for Central India. Many old
schools and colleges are still there and many new have opened up. With
the establishment of Indian Institute of Management (IIM-I) in Indore,
students from all over India have started to explore Indore as an
alternate to the best towns for education in Indore. There are other
management and engineering Institutes as well in the city.
Economy of Indore
- Indore is the biggest business center in Central India and is
fast becoming one of the busiest and advanced business hubs in
India.
- Software boom has helped in advancement of the city and creating
