
NOIDA
or New Okhla Industrial Development Authority came into existence on
19th April, 1976 under the initiative of Sanjay Gandhi. Noida was set up
as part of a major urbanisation thrust during the infamous Emergency
period (1975-1977). This city is today a highly industrialised city and
considered to be one of the most modernised suburb districts of Uttar
Pradesh.
Demographics
There has been an extensive growth of population in Noida during the
last two decades and the population as per 2001 census was 5.5 lakhs.
Climate in Noida
Being situated close to Delhi, Noida is influenced by the climate of
Delhi. Noida has a very extreme climate with very hot summers and very
cold winters. The peak temperatures are usually reached in May / June
and can be as high as 48 degree celcius. Monsoon is usually in July and
August. During winters (December-February) the temperature is around 12
degree celcius which falls down to 5-6 degree celcius in January.
How to reach Noida?
Noida is well connected to different cities. Noida is bounded by NH-24
by-pass in the North beyond which the Ghaziabad Development Area exists.
People in Noida region avail of the transport facilities of Delhi. There
is the Interstate Bus Terminal at Sector-34, Noida. There is no Railway
Station in Noida but the nearest railway station are Nizamuddin, New
Delhi, Old Delhi Railway Station, Shahdra in Delhi and Ghaziabad Railway
Station in Ghaziabad. The nearest airport is Indira Gandhi International
Airport, Delhi.

Education in Noida
Noida has developed to be a good educational centre. Though Noida does
not have its own University, most of the students go to colleges
affiliated to Delhi University or Ghaziabad University. The number of
higher education, management and technical institutions abound in Noida.

centers in India, acting as a key contributor to NCR emerging as an

- The city has a stadium, which is being upgraded to international
