As exciting as it sounds to shift to a new home, multiple things must be taken care of. Otherwise, the damage can be permanent. Like aquariums, because they are delicate, we also have an emotional attachment to them that doesn’t let us carelessly handle the aquarium, i.e., home to our pet fishes. So, if you are about to shift to a new home and are worried about your aquarium’s shifting, follow these steps to safely pack and relocate the fish tank for shifting:

  1. Remove the fish from the fish tank.
  2. Unplug the light, pump, and heater.
  3. Remove plants and other accessories from the tank.
  4. Dry artificial plants and decorative items and pack them in bubble wrap.
  5. The original aquarium plants must keep in a container filled with water.
  6. Pack the damp filter in a sealed container.
  7. Drain out the tank water. Save at least a bucket of it to pour back into the tank at the new location.
  8. Pack the glass tank in a carton box packed with bubble wrap and surrounded by foam to prevent it from breaking.
  9. Fill the tank with newspaper to avoid scratches.

Once the aquarium reaches its destination, place everything back and put all the fish inside to start the filters again. Then enjoy the sight of your lovely aquarium in your new home.
